Introduction to Bible Study
My Experience with Bible Study
When it came to Bible study, my first thought was that I wasn’t sure how to start about studying Bible. I thought it would be long and difficult. Well, once I get started and I have found out the key is to use the proper method to study the Bible that is suitable. They are like the right tools in the toolkit. Once you get used to the process, it gets easier and rewarding as you get more of God’s word and start applying and responding to Him.
Why Study the Bible
Guidance to daily life
Studying the Bible provides many benefits to our life. One is that it provides the Most High’s guidance to our daily life. How precious it is to have His words speaking directly to us.
Wisdom
The Bible is full of wisdom from God as it is breathed by God (2Ti 3:16). It contains the accounts of many fellow believers and truths concerning our life.
Blessings
There are promised blessings to those who walk according to God’s word (Ps 119:2). God is waiting for us to claim this blessing by obeying Him.
Methods of Bible Study
I have only listed three that I use most but you can find many more in Rick Warren’s Bible Study Methods. My versions are also slightly tweaked from the reference according to my personal experience.
1. Devotional Bible Study
Short Bible study to learn about the Bible and let God speak to you
2. Thematic Bible Study
Quick focused study on a topic in the Bible
3. Survey Bible Study
An overview study of a portion of the Bible
Encouragement
Bible study can be fun and meaningful and it can fit in an only 15 minutes schedule. You can do it with ease when you are familiar with the methods. Bible studies have transformed my thinking to be more God centered and made my life closer to God. I hope that you will enjoy Bible study as we go through each method.-
